How Individual vs. Business Classification Works
Every row in your import is independently scored against two sets of signals — one for Business and one for Individual. The side with the higher point total wins and becomes the row's classification. The confidence percentage shown in the type pill is the winner's score expressed as a share of the combined total. If the two scores are too close (margin < 10 pts) or no signals fire at all, the row is marked Unknown and flagged for manual review.

Decision Rule
The winner is whichever side scores higher.
Confidence % = winner's score ÷ combined total × 100, so a row with a return type of 1065 and an EIN and a recognized suffix (135 pts) against zero individual signals scores 100% Business confidence.
A row is classified Unknown when the margin between the two scores is fewer than 10 points, or when no signals fire at all.
Theoretical maxima: 220 pts (Business) and 165 pts (Individual) — these affect confidence percentages in mixed-signal rows but not classification direction.
Manual override: Click any type pill in the grid (indiv or biz) to cycle through Individual → Business → Unknown → Individual. An overridden row is not re-scored automatically — override takes permanent precedence until cleared.
